Think a quality private school education is out of your reach? Think again.
The Phoenix Rising School is based on the radical idea that a high-quality private education should be relevant, learner-centered, personal – and affordable. We are a community-based school, with the ambitious goal of being 100 % community supported – and therefore free for all students – within five years.
Located on ten acres in rural Rainer, Washington, Phoenix Rising offers differentiated instruction, multi-age classrooms and a comprehensive outdoor education program.
Our youngest students enjoy learning to read, write, draw, sew, weave, garden, build and play together in woods, fields, and classrooms of our ten-acre campus. In warm and inviting indoor classrooms, experienced educators guide and encourage students to love learning and care for one another.
Students connect learning with life in an active, language-rich environment. We integrate reading, writing, math, science, social studies and art through mixed-age thematic studies that challenge and encourage students to be insightful, engaged and kind.
Small classes provide upper elementary school students close relationships as well as individualized challenge and support in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and applied sciences. In addition to core subjects, students become engaged and reflective learners through academic coaching, team building, and exploring the art and neuroscience of learning.
Through multi-age classrooms, weekly workshops and multi-age “houses”, students are exposed to other children and adults they might not normally spend time with, including the administrative staff. This allows them to pursue interests and develop skills outside of the core curriculum.
