M.A., English and French Translation
If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be and why?
I have already done so many other professions before becoming a teacher. I have been a coach, a choreographer, a violinist, a dancer, a translator and I even ran away with the circus! But I must admit that for me, teaching is by far the most beautiful job in the world. I cannot imagine doing something more rewarding. I see myself teaching children for as long as I can.
What’s your favorite thing about the subject you teach?
My favorite subject used to be beginning reading because I love watching the children’s amazement when they finally read their first words on their own. It is like they have just acquired a new superpower and they want to read everything they see. Since last year, I have developed a new affinity with Math. In 2011 I went to a DAP workshop given by Constance Kamii and learned a whole new approach to teaching math. I am jazzed about it and I am looking for new ways to help students solve problems and think outside of the box. I also really enjoy teaching gymnastics and performances.
